1st ‘BIOCEV-Krč Methodological Seminar’

Dear Colleagues,

The major Biomedical Institutes at the Krč Campus of the Czech Academy of Sciences (http://www.biomed.cas.cz/) together with the Institute of Biotechnology - Centrum BIOCEV (https://www.biocev.eu/en)  are going to organize common ‘Methodological Seminars’. The goal of this initiative is to support mutual contacts and collaborations. All the Institutes involved will subsequently take responsibility for the organization of the individual events. These 1-hour seminars will be held on the first Monday each month (except for January and the summer months in 2019), starting at 3 p.m.  The 1st seminar will be held at the lecture hall of the Institute of Physiology (see below).

We cordially invite all of you to participate at these events, which we consider important.

Ing. Miroslava Anděrová, CSc (Institute of Experimental Medicine), Ing. Jiří Hašek, CSc (Institute of Microbiology), RNDr Petr Dráber, DrSc (Institute of Molecular Genetics), MUDr Jan Kopecký, DrSc (Institute of Physiology), and Jana Pěknicová, PhD (Institute of Biotechnology)

Dear Colleagues,

Institute of Physiology of the Czech Academy of Sciences would like to invite you to:

The 1st ‘BIOCEV-Krč Methodological Seminar’

Topic: Metabolomics

Monday 3rd December 2018 at 15:00 at the Lecture hall of the Institute of Physiology

Metabolomics is a relatively new member to the ‘-omics’ family focusing on comprehensive, qualitative, and quantitative study of all the small molecules in an organism. Advances in mass spectrometry have had a big impact on overall metabolomics workflows over the last decade. Analytical protocols were streamlined and fast data acquisition mass spectrometers were introduced, enabling collecting multiple types of mass spectrometric data within a single run. In this 1st ‘BIOCEV-Krč Methodological Seminar’ we will discuss the complete metabolomics workflow, challenges in this field, and overview of current metabolomics platforms available at our Institutes. The following speakers will present at the seminar:

doc. Ing. Tomáš Čajka, Ph.D., Institute of Physiology CAS, Department of Translational Metabolism

Introduction to metabolomics and IPHYS portfolio of methods: (i) Combined (un)targeted analysis of metabolome/lipidome/exposome using LC-HRMS, (ii) Targeted analysis of lipid mediators using LC-QTRAP, (iii) Fluxomics using LC-HRMS

RNDr. Karel Chalupský, Ph.D., Institute of Molecular Genetics CAS, Laboratory of Transgenic Models of Diseases, Czech Centre for Phenogenomics

Untargeted metabolomics analysis of mouse plasma

RNDr. Petr Žáček, Ph.D., BIOCEV OMICS Proteomics

GC-MS profiling of esterified fatty acids
