Developmental Epileptology - annotation

Neuroactive drugs like anaesthetics and anxiolytics are used in all age groups of patients. There is however growing body of evidence that these drugs can interfere with normal brain development and that alterations in brain functions can emerge long time after the treatment cessation. Molecular and cellular mechanisms underlying the development of these functional alterations are only poorly understood. Their identification can help to develop safe medications for pediatric patients.
