LECTURE "Science in Poland 2016"


The Polish Academy of Sciences is facing new challenges now and accordingly is changing currently. Professor Jerzy Duszynski, PAS President, will present an overview of the situation in science in Poland together with new directions PAS has to take nowadays.

Professor Jerzy Duszynski is the President - Polish Academy of Sciences (2015). Corresponding Member of the Academy of Sciences since 2007 and professor at the Nencki Institute of Experimental Biology. Professor`s research interests are bioenergetics, role of mitochondria in cell functioning, mitochondrial and neurodegenerative diseases, ageing. In 2008-09 served as Undersecretary of state at the Ministry of Science and Higher Education and President of the Interdisciplinary Committee of the Infrastructure Research at the Ministry of Science and Higher Education (2006-09). In 2012 elected to the Academia Europaea, in 2013–16 member of the Institute for Research in Biomedicine in Barcelona Board of Trustees.
