Gliflozins (SGLT-2 inhibitors) exert their hypoglycaemic effects by promoting glucose and sodium excretion. The improvement in glycaemic control is associated with decreasing of blood pressure and body weight in diabetic patients. Numerous experimental data show the effects of gliflozins in diabetic kidney and heart disease. However, the experiments in non-diabetic animals are relatively scarce. Therefore, the aim of the PhD project will be to study the mechanisms of actions of gliflozins under non-diabetic conditions.
