5th ‘BIOCEV-Krč Methodological Seminar’
Chemical biology is a scientific field bridging chemistry and biology, connecting it with traditional disciplines such as cell biology, molecular and structural biology, biochemistry, organic chemistry, medicinal chemistry and chem/bioinformatics. Thanks to chemical biology, scientists can search for chemical substances with precisely defined activities on the biological system they are interested in and find the answers to the questions they are studying. On the other hand, chemists can characterize the biological activities of newly synthesized compounds and find a new use for them.
In this 5th “BIOCEV-Krč Methodological Seminar” you will be led through the path from the selection of suitable chemical compounds to be tested, to biological assay design, the screening process, and the final data analysis. You will get some basic idea what is behind the identification of new molecular probes as new tools for research, as well as candidates for the development of new potential therapeutics.
